Sustainability means doing business in a way that minimises environmental and social impact. Environmental degradation and inadequate social conditions are among the biggest threats to a brighter future. We can’t be a force for good in the world unless we understand that we all have a part to play in changing things. That’s why we launched the Pegasus BetterWorld programme to create a business model that’s better for society and for the planet.

/ Ethical Sourcing
Using sustainable materials is one of the most important actions manufacturers can take to reduce our environmental and social impact. That’s why we’ve introduced the Pegasus Chefwear Ekocloth range made from 100% recycled PET bottles (add link to blog post), and are working on introducing a variety of further sustainable product ranges in future.
All of our suppliers are required to abide by the Pegasus World Ethical Sourcing Policy, which sets out a series of requirements for labour conditions. These requirements are drawn from the Base Code of the Ethical Trading Initiative, a leading organisation that works to promote respect for labour rights worldwide.

It’s vital to ensure that we keep our carbon footprint down by reducing emissions where possible, and electric vehicles are a great way to do this. All of the forklifts used in our warehouses are electric, and we’ve also installed electric vehicle charging points in our parking area for staff use.
When thinking about what we can do to make our business more sustainable, it’s important not to lose sight of what we can do right here in our own community. In December 2020, we donated 10,000 face masks alongside other PPE items to York Foodbank and the Salvation Army, and we planted trees around our office to improve the landscape and help offset some of our emissions. We will continue to build on this with a range of further community initiatives.
